god i love metal
it’s so visceral lol. other music genres are nice but i don’t think any other genre captures anger or despair like metal. and those are such primal, important, and universal human emotions. we all feel those ways sometimes. music is such a good outlet for them.
there’s a reason why when King Gizzard, a psychedelic garage rock band, decided to do two of the most focused albums about climate change in their catalog, they chose to do metal for both of them. nothing captures the righteous fury we feel at the people who poison the earth more than metal. what, are they gonna talk about how the earth is being destroyed, the dragon is descending to torch us all, we’re burning alive and the people in power are doing nothing about it, and set that to jazz rock? to synthpop? to funk? nah man, that deserves rage and loud guitars
